Elective Consultations
Consultations for first time patients are R900. For follow up patients it is R600. Pensioners pay a special rate for all consultations R550. Please liaise with your medical aid to determine whether a pre-authorisation is required for reimbursement of a consultation. It remains your responsibility to furnish the practice with the necessary information. Consultation fees can be updated from time to time and can be lower if there is a payment arrangement with the medical aid. Please contact the practice for the latest fees.
Patients must pay for the consultations in the rooms. An account will be sent via e-mail. The patient is responsible for the reimbursement of the medical aid.
Please bring along your medical aid card and proof of identity when you come for an appointment.
Elective Theatres
We endeavour to ask Medical aid rates for elective theatres. We have several contracts with medical aids. We have also partnered with ICPS, JointCare and Discovery Major Joint Network for replacement theatre rates. Payment for all procedure codes remains the responsibility of the patient. Some medical aids will inform you during authorisation if they do not pay for a specific code, it will depend on the internal scheme rules of your specific medical aid and plan option. You will be liable for the code if the medical aid does not pay for the code or consumables. Bestmed patients do not have a co-payment for coding combinations that are not approved by their medical aid.
Please speak to your medical aid or medical aid broker to determine if you have any exclusions, waiting periods or whether you have any restrictions such as hospital, replacement prosthesis or any surgical equipment such as anchors, screws, plates and other surgical implants.
Should you be liable for a co-payment you can negotiate with your medical aid in this regard, some medical aids may take your claim history into consideration and you may be left with a small co-payment, if any, in some instances. The practice personnel are not allowed to negotiate with your Medical Aid on your behalf. The broker who sold the Medical Aid to you might be of assistance.
For SABMAS and Sizwe patients we provide a quote based on their authorisation. The quote shows the total amount due by the patient.
Private and medically insured patients will be given a quote before the operation and will be fully payable by the patient. There is a difference between medical aid and medical insurance. Please check which one you have. Medical insurance patients can claim back the monies from their medical insurance. Please liaise with the practice for any changes to the billing policy.
